Read more The second generation of the Hyundai Kona, the second generation from the Hyundai factory in Moravia, has been upgraded to one charge from the assembly line to the Austrian importer on one charge. The WLTP range of the Kona with the smaller battery (48.4 kWh) is given as 377 kilometers, with the larger one (65.4) as 514. With the new generation, the priority has been reversed and the output is the Kia Niro and then the combustion engines and hybrids follow. The Kona has an extravagant, robust-looking design, has a 12.3-inch panoramic display and is receptive to OTA (over the air) updates. The second generation comes from the Hyundai factory in Moravia – with numerous upgrades.
The second-generation electric Kona would make it from the assembly line to the Austrian importer on one charge. Because from the Moravian Nošovice, the old Austrian Noschowitz, to Denzel in Vienna it is only 310 kilometers. The WLTP range of the Kona with the smaller battery (48.4 kWh) is given as 377 kilometers, with the larger one (65.4) as 514. With one charge at Linz (at 400 V quick charge in 41 minutes to 80 percent ) to Salzburg.
With the new generation of the Kona, the priority has been reversed
The new electric Kona is the third model to be built at the factory (Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech/ HMMC), which opened in 2009, alongside the i30 and Tucson ranges. There should be 21,000 from August 11th to the end of the year, and 50,000 in 2024. With the new generation, the priority has been reversed: now the electric variant is the output (which shares the base with the Kia Niro) and then the combustion engines and hybrids follow.
Speaking of range: In the first test around Ostrau, only 130 kilometers of range were “lost” during 120 kilometers of (very leisurely) country road driving. The Kona has an extravagant, robust-looking design, has a pleasant interior ambience (including a 12.3-inch panoramic display) and enough space, and is receptive to OTA (over the air) updates. Some design elements, such as the continuous light strip with integrated daytime running lights, are only available in the electric version. Thanks to the six centimeter longer wheelbase, more space could be created for passengers. The latest level of the Smart Sense system includes camera-based drowsiness detection, a blind spot assistant with monitor, an intelligent parking assistant, etc. – there are ten auxiliary systems as standard. With 11 kW AC charging, the 48.4 kWh battery is charged in just under five hours, the larger one (65.4) in seven.
The electric Kona in 3 configurations will soon be available in Austria
The electrically powered Kona can now be ordered in Austria from 44,990 to 54,990 euros (introductory offer from 38,490) and will be available for delivery shortly. There are three versions (Smart, Trend, Prestige), each with a 48.4 or 65.4 kWh battery (156 or 217 hp). For comparison: The new Kona as a combustion engine starts at 26,790, the hybrid version at 30,790.
